Results of the Storm at my House, July 11, 2011

You'll have to go down through several posts to see all the damage done in my yard and to the house today. I know I should have been able to post all of these in the same post but I'm not technologically savvy enough to do it. So just keep going down through the posts, please. Our neighborhood looks like a tornado went through. Praise God noone in our neighborhood was hurt, although a man about a mile south of here was killed when a falling tree knocked the garage down on him. My roof has only minor damage I'm told.

So, I take it, the trees in your backyard got thinned out. How many came down in the storm? Did they remove others also? What kind of damage was done inside?

The damage was not a result of trees in my yard, Sallie. They were my neighbors' trees. I don't think they even lost a single tree but they lost significant parts of two trees. The storm has completely changed the landscape of our neighborhood. My trees are still standing, for which I thank the Lord. There were a couple (several?) holes punched through my roof and since the storm came with a downpour, the insulation was soaked. So the ceiling in my bedroom had a bit of water damage yesterday. This morning, there was even more damage. Glenn K crawled up in my attic and brought out the wet insulation this afternoon, so the water damage should not increase. So what I need is a repair to the roof and the bedroom ceiling, and more insulation put back in the attic. It could have been soooo much worse. I'm thankful it wasn't.

Very scary! We had wind and rain for under 15 minutes; looks like you got much worse. Thankfully it wasn't an actual tornado -- this is bad enough! Will insurance cover the work you need done?

We are glad the damage was minimal to your roof. I guess you will have one of those pretty blue tarps on it to keep out the rain until it is fixed. Mom and Dad have had some large trees come down in the past few weeks, but thankfully not on their house.
