They Still Need Our Prayers!

You may remember that I went to Houston two weeks ago for the wedding of my nephew. My two oldest nephews, Jonathan and Matthew, are chemical engineers with ExxonMobil and work in the refinery in Houston. I'm so thankful that the wedding was not planned for this weekend!

Please continue to pray with me for the millions of people in the metro-Houston area, particularly my nephews, both of whom live in suburbs in the southeastern part of Houston. Jonathan is the older one, and in this picture he is the one on the right, holding his daughter, Joanna. His wife, Sarah is in front of him. It should be obvious that the next one is Matthew with his bride, Emily. Pray for their safety, and for wisdom to know how to confront the difficulties they like millions of others in that city are facing.

(In the interest of fairness, I should tell you that the couple standing next to the bride is Philip and wife Elizabeth. Daniel, on the outer left side, is not yet married although he is engaged and hoping to be married before the year is over. The younger boys live in San Jose, California.)

By the way, I received another phone call from the Ivory Coast today. It's hard for me to believe it. This one was from Genevieve, who worked in my home many years ago when I was there. She tells me that she is now the mother of eight living children. Their oldest child died of typhoid while I was out there. She told me that their seventh living child is a girl and has been named after me. "Her name is Elaine," she said. I assume they spell it Helene, as the French spell the name. What a surprise to hear from her too! They now have my phone number, so who knows how often I'll be getting phone calls from there?

They too need our prayers. When I told her that I regularly pray for the Ivorian believers, her appreciation was obvious. It's exciting to think that some day we'll all be around the throne of God together. I'm looking forward to that day. I pray you are too.
