BI's Roofing Project and Other Things

This morning began as a beautiful clear, dry morning. That is a blessing because earlier weather forecasts were not so promising. For months, BI's administrators have been planning on re-roofing the building this weekend. Two years ago they had been told the roof could withstand one, possibly two, more winters. Those two winters have come and gone and we are facing another one.

Four volunteers came this morning to assist the missionary men who are able to get on the roof. If you live in the Grand Rapids area and have time, please consider joining the men. You will be put to work. Otherwise, the project is going to drag on and on, and rain is predicted again next week. If you don't live near here, would you pray for the project, asking the Lord to give protection to those who are working and asking Him to send more volunteers?

Please pray, too, for three of our people who are in the Central African Republic, Dave and Nancy Cropsey and Eric Elmer. They are there to work out some procedural issues for the revision of the Sango Bible, one of the earliest Bibles published by Baptist Mid-Missions missionaries. They also hope to set up Skype communication with the office in Grand Rapids, something that would greatly increase the speed at which the project might be finished. Pray that they will be able to accomplish what they set out to do. And pray for chief translation consultant Glenn Kerr as he travels there next week to spend about two weeks working with the national translators on this project. Pray that the Lord will allow the work to be done as quickly and accurately as humanly possible.

Please continue to uphold the Bibles International personnel in your prayers. Some are facing health issues. Others are facing other challenges. Pray that we would be faithful to the work to which the Lord has called us. We consider it a privilege to be involved here, and want to be faithful to the end but the devil does all he can to hinder this ministry.

Praying for lots of volunteers to show up today! It would be great to get the roof on quickly.

Well, I hope the roof replacement is finished by now. Replacing a roof that large takes a lot of manpower to finish, and it is imperative to finish it right away to avoid having to work in the rainy season. Everything gets harder when you have to work under the rain. You rarely get good footing because the roof is usually wet, and that can make conditions pretty hazardous for the workers.

How did the project turn out? Anyway, it’s amazing to see that your community came together to finish this project. We all know that putting up a roof is a huge project, so we need to utilize every help that we can get. :)

It’s really amazing to hear your community help each other so that the roof project would be finish. I wish you posted some picture of the action. And I agree with Will here that the sooner the roof is completed, the less problem you will encounter, especially if the weather is not on your side.
