Maranatha Christian Writers' Conference

I have just returned from the Maranatha Christian writers' conference in Muskegon, Michigan. It was a time of blessing and encouragement. It was wonderful to be in a group of people who aspire to be published or are already published, some of them making large salaries from the profits they make from writing.

In the first picture are Dave and Neda Jackson, keynote speakers for the conference. They were very helpful and interesting. I believe it is the first time I've met a husband and wife team who are both authors and have collaborated on many of their titles.

In the second picture is Dr. Dennis Hensley, noted author from my home state of Indiana. He is from Fort Wayne and teaches at Taylor University. He is a powerful speaker and quite motivational in his speaking. He is a high achiever and very self-disciplined, which encourages his listeners to push forward.

These are just three of the many, many speakers we had. There were those who wrote fiction, those who wrote nonfiction, one who wrote poetry, and one who was a song writer.

The last picture is of the beautiful lodge at Maranatha. One of my donors made it possible for me to stay there for the entire conference, from Monday through today. I'm very grateful for that gift. I had a very comfortable room and the meals were delicious.

We began each day with devotions, and had some very devotional-type speakers in some of the evening sessions. I came away challenged to discipline myself to produce more writing.

Before going there, I was very intimidated about going alone, about the physical challenges I might be facing, and about the professional challenges I faced. I need not have worried. The Lord went before me, preparing the way. I came away thankful to have had the opportunity.

So wonderful for you. When we are with you we want you to evaluate our writing and give us guidance in light of all you are learning.
